Topsail Island North Carolina

I’m taking a break from wedding blogging to do something I do every Winter. Reflect. As the Winter months stretch on and on, my mind turns fondly to Topsail Island, North Carolina. It’s this time of year that I take a break from the wedding season. No more editing, no more sending brides galleries. Although, this is admittedly my favorite part of the wedding process; the culmination of lots of effort spent creating perfect galleries and hopes that my couple will be as happy with the images as I am. There’s something about Winter that forces me to be still.

Topsail Island North Carolina

Topsail (pronounced “Top-sul” to North Carolinians) is the essence of peace for me. It’s where I gain inspiration and rejuvenate. I reconnect with old feelings. Feelings that the normal process of life has taken from my senses. I’m quickly reminded when I step on the shifting sand, seagulls flying overhead and squawking to each other. The crash of the waves. A glimpse of a dolphin’s fin gliding out of the water then escaping back just as quietly. That salty air smell. It’s amazing how this pungent smell can be forgotten, but there it is just like a comfortable friend. Reminding me that no matter what path life takes me in, my home will always be my beloved Topsail.

Topsail Island Wedding Photographer

As a wedding photographer, you give a lot of yourself during the wedding season. Time is sacrificed with family members to create stunning galleries for clients. Capturing beautiful wedding images is a huge responsibility that I don’t take lightly. But when I see the happy looks on couples’ faces, the emails, cards, and reviews on my wedding wire and The Knot profiles, I know it was worth it.

Maybe you’re looking for respite, refreshing. My favorite verse to gain strength from is Psalm 61:2 From the end of the earth will I cry until Thee, when my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the Rock that is higher than I”.

I hope these images and this verse have helped you today to find rest and peace. I am so thankful for the peace and rest I’ve found in my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
