Snowy Bridal Session

Yesterday we got to play in the snow at Bleak House Knoxville! And it was amazing.

But there is something about the snow that we Southerners just love and hate at the same time. The way we can’t (and don’t WANT) to drive in it. And in all fairness, we don’t grow up driving in it and our cities don’t have budgets for road treatments like “up north”, but that’s another story altogether. Also, we hate the way we are stereotyped by yankees (who are definitely the worst drivers, amiright?!?). We want the snow to fall in time for us to get out of school  and work, but be gone by the evening or we’ll get cabin fever. It’s definitely a love-love-hate relationship here in the South.

But when it comes to snow, this photographer loves it! I love photographing anything in it. I love the way it makes everything so soft. The way it bounces light and fills a subject–wow! It’s just beautiful.

So when we actually get the snow that is forecasted (which is rare, a trick God plays on meteorologists to keep them humble) we play!

Yesterday was no exception.

Bleak House Bridal Session

As the snow bands headed our way from Nashville, I quickly reached out to some Knoxville wedding vendors to see who wanted to participate. It’s always tricky when it’s snowing because most people don’t want to drive in it (myself included). And I don’t want to ask someone to risk their life for a styled shoot. But it just so happened that wedding venue Bleak House in Knoxville  was right off a heavily trafficked (and heavily treated) road. And they were ok with us tromping around in the snow! My friend and previous client,  Morgan (you can see her previous work with me in her Watts Bar Lake Senior Session and her modeling work for The Bride Link at this Whitestone Bridal Session) was available to model. And Anna owner of bridal boutique, Loveliest Bridal , lent us use a beautiful gown and fur. Morgan did her own hair and makeup (which always looks perfect!) and we headed to Bleak House.

We quickly got to work in the snow–Morgan being so helpful even though she was freezing! But I think the effort was justified by the romantic images we got.

Thank you Morgan and Anna for being so willing to jump in and create something beautiful! I couldn’t be happier with the results!
