It’s not every day that you get to help your brother plan his surprise proposal. When Patrick came to me asking for help in proposing to Peyton, I was so excited to help!
I’ve found that surprise proposals are my favorite thing to photograph. It’s always such a fun process, planning the location, the logistics, and the execution with the future groom. To do it with my brother was even more special.
When Patrick asked about locations, I knew Spring House Restaurant, Kitchen & Bar was the obvious choice. Their attention to detail during events, the kindness of all the staff, (not to mention the amazing food!) I knew they would make this moment the most special for this surprise engagement. After a few quick emails with Elizabeth, the private event coordinator at Spring House, the plan was in place!
Patrick wanted to give Peyton a scrapbook just prior to proposing, with a letter at the end leading into his proposal. Mary Ellen, being a fantastic graphic designer and photographer, helped Pat plan the book.
Peyton’s reaction was just the sweetest. I loved how she jumped up and down in excitement!
Of course no proposal seems to happen without its hitches. A few seconds before Pat and Peyton arrived to Spring House, a fender bender happened right in front of Spring House! Fortunately, the Winston Salem Police Department are amazing people, and moved the vehicles out of the way while Patrick was parking the car. They even cheered with Peyton said yes! Thank you also to Chef Tim Grandinetti & Elizabeth of Spring House, for making the evening just so perfect for this sweet couple!
